He is the sire of our Thomas and  also of Tammy's  twin ewe lambs; Duchess and Princess. Their dam is Kalwe Taure Blizzard   who in turn  is directly  out of Cherrington/Skerryvore lines

The Cherringtons at Earendel- Beginning with Brandy

We are delighted to be the retirement home for many of Dale Shannon's remaining Cherrington Shetlands.
Dale's sheep were one of the great early flocks in North American Shetland history.  The Cherringtons became noted for their fine crimped fleeces and solid colours. Dale's favourite ram was the black Skerryvore Braw. A look at his lineage quickly reminds you how close to the beginning of North American Shetlands he was. (See NASSA #S2065).
On the farm we have 2 full Braw daughters ( Cherrington Brandy and Cherrington Ester) and several of his granddaughters.
Our grand old lady, Brandy was born March, 29, 1997.( S6030)

She is out of Skerryvore Braw and Cherrington Queen Mary.

When Brandy was born Dale Shannon noted that she was a reddish brown almost auburn colour, which has staid true throughout the years

Despite having no teeth left Brandy is in good weight and gave us 2.5 pounds of beautiful fleece this year.

Brandy and her 1/2 sister Cherrington Ester share a pen and where they both can receive special care as befitting their age.

Brandy's fleece is still popular with spinners who use a drop spindle rather than a wheel for spinning

Brandy has offspring all across Canada, and we have three of them here with us. Foote and Grannie are out of Wooly Pedro as we felt we to pick up an out cross and they are both black but age greying. We also have Brandy's daughter Elly.   Elly has very special genetics as she is Brandy's inbred daughter and a mistake. But Elly like her mother and her father( 1/2 brother) is a moorit which likely makes Elly homogeneous for that colour. Elly will be bred to carefully to try to maintain her colour genetics.

Our newest addition Thomas

 Meet 'Earendal Syr Thomas'!
Here he is at one week old the offspring of our ram Dailley Pachino and Kalwe Taure Esme ( Straight Cherrington bloodlines)
Thomas has amazing curls. As long as his horns turn out properly with good wide clearance, he keeps his good temperament and that fleece we will keep him intact.  As for colour he is very likely to end up a silver grey  like his mom's other two boys.

Welcome to Earendel Shetland sheep

My husband Al and I have a small farm located in Ontario Canada.
We currently have 18 Shetland sheep, and are North American Shetland Sheep Assoc. flock number 1505. So you should be able to look up the full pedigrees that way, let me know if it will not work for you.

Over the past few years we have been collecting what is left of the Cherrington flock. The flock was dispensed 10 years ago when Dale Shannon retired. Dale was a spinner and weaver and this was her purpose bred flock. We were really fortunate to find Tammy Ward of Kalwa Taure Shetlands who started with some of Dale's flock.
One way or the other we have managed bring home as many of Tammy's Cherringtons as well can. All of our girls are either direct Cherringtons bred by Dale or from the Cherrington line, bred by Tammy and ourselves
.
Last November, with Carol Precious's help we got our ram from the Dailley Flock we called him Pachino. He also romances Tammy's girls as our two farms are sharing the same breeding goals.
We do not show our sheep, we are not interested in politics.

We feel that we have been entrusted with Shetland sheep that share a unique heritage from some of the early North American lines. We are determined not to mess it all up!

We breed every other year and take that interval year two evaluate the lambs. Both
Carol and Dale have been really helpful in coming to see our flock and advising us on who is worthy of going on and who is not. Those who are not chosen as breeding stock are beloved "lawn ornaments.

This year we are hopeful that Esme and Jessie are pregnant out of Pachino of course.
So let me start to introduce you to the Earendal flock. Where possible I have included comments about some of our Cherringtons from Dale's flock book.
